I grew up in the east of Washington State, USA a couple of hours east of Seattle in the middle of the “Apple Capital of the World”… orchards, rivers and sunshine. The son of a physician and chairman of the local hospital board I spent winters skiing and playing in the outdoors.

And from age 1 my best summer memories are out on the wild Pacific Ocean at our family cabin in Barkley Sound, Canada.

That blend of outdoor adventure and international travel sparked my hunger for the unknown and the possible.
